Prepare to turn into a successful engineer by earning two bachelor degrees at once—one STEM-based degree from Hiram College and one engineering diploma from Case Western Reserve University or Washington University. This twin (or three+2) method prepares leaders with a strong science core, downside-solving expertise, and communication experience.
The workshops are led by Dr. Wil van der Veen, a nationally recognized expert on the NGSS and science schooling. Our present focus is to help New Jersey college districts with the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
The program is a collaboration between the Science Education Institute at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC), the Rider University Science Education and Literacy Center (SELECT), the Princeton University Teacher Preparation Program, and Leadership in Science, LLC. During the varsity year, the Science Education Institute will be offering a number of professional development alternatives to support academics and directors with implementation of the NGSS. These workshops comply with recommendations of the latest National Academies of Sciences Report and incorporate what we’re learning about NGSS implementation by way of our work with thousands of teachers in New Jersey and across the nation. We advocate sending management teams of 3-7 teachers to a minimum of three one-day workshops or the Summer Institute to develop a stable foundation for the NGSS.
The College of Science and Technology requires that college students full a complete of 123 credit for many programs. Of these totals, ninety credit should be within the College of Science and Technology or the College of Liberal Arts (CLA). Students receiving a Bachelor of Arts (as opposed to Bachelor of Science) diploma must take at least two courses numbered 2000 or above in the College of Liberal Arts. Student Grievance Procedure
Practicum locations are subject to ESE rules and should be discussed with this system chair and permitted by the pre-practicum/practicum coordinator. This course focuses on the nationwide science training content material requirements for bodily science and “science as inquiry”.
